All I can say is Wow! December 31, 2008 I could not put this book down; although it took me awhile to get use to the way Mr. Zusak wrote in the 3rd person. I feel this book is surely not limited to young adults, since it kept me wanting more and more...you will not be dissapointed in reading all the twist and turns that it takes!
I'm Jealous of Anyone Who Hasn't Read This December 31, 2008 This story is enchanting. It's beautiful. I'll read it over and over again. The style is provocative and beautiful. Savor the experience. This is a fantastic book for young adults and not so young adults alike.
Adult book December 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I too was surprised that this book was tagged as a young adult book. I find the theme and content very much for adults and wonder if the age group suggested would find this book entertaining. It was an amazingly good book for adults.
Worth the Read December 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love the style of this author as it grabs my attention. The topic isn't pleasant but it is a different perspective than the typical WWII book. I would definitely recommend this book.
A new take on an old subject December 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just recently finished reading this book and the time was definitely well worth it. The plot was fresh and enticing, and I found the characters to be realistic and to have many layers to their personalities and motives. I admit, the writing style was a little difficult to get into, but once I did I could not put the book down. Unlike many books that take place during the Holocaust, the war was not the main focus of the story. It was about a girl who happened to be growing up during those times and who was affected by events relating to the war. WWII was more of a backdrop to the story than the other way around. I found this very refreshing and new.
