5 out of 5 stars Superb!   August 17, 2008
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Couldn't put it down. Am ready to read the next one.

3 out of 5 stars Great story idea, good writing, but really violent.   May 23, 2008

As usual, Alton Gransky writes very well. The characters in Vanished are well developed and interesting. The premise of the story is excellent. But for me this book failed because it was far more violent than others he has written tat I have read. I found the violence excessive, especially the Black Ops people in the underground encounters with the Marines. Lots and lots of death, and more gore than I expected. So I was disappointed with "Vanished." Certainly, I would not recommend that anyone under 15 years old read this book.

5 out of 5 stars An explanation is due, but you might not believe me!   November 2, 2004

Well, Gansky brings back J.D. Stanton, retired Navy Captain, he takes us above sea level, and then really has us seeing stars! It isn't often that a follow up book is as good as the first, yet this is an exception. Both "A Ship Possessed" and "Vanished" deal in spiritual warfare, yet in different ways.

Gansky takes a community of Roanoke II, and then most of it disappears. Why? Yeah, that is the question. And J.D. Stanton has questions. He also has people such as Agent Tulley and Dr. Eddington, who have attitudes to go along with their jobs. I love it that Gansky re-introduces us to Dr. Hawking Striber from "A Ship Possessed".

So, while you could say that Stanton starts out on Thanksgiving with turkey sandwiches, and ends this mission with turkey tacos while watching Monday Night Football, that is all irrelevant. The crazy thing is, that there is some explaining to do throughout this book, yet I'm not going to spoil this one. Good stuff!

5 out of 5 stars Gansky strikes again...   December 24, 2001

As usual, Alton Gansky delivers an incredible story that will make you wish he'd write a third book in all his series.
Stanton is called upon once again to investigate a truly puzzling case that turns out to be the biggest sci-fi/supernatural thriller of his life.
When you finally realize what's going on, it'll strike you how much it makes complete sense. Maybe aliens are a little closer to home than we think?
An incredible read with an incredible twist.
