Product Description
Medals Above My Heart is a devotional for military wives. The husbands of these authors wear their medals on their uniforms, but these ladies will share experiences of military life and reveal the medals they wear over their own hearts.

Like the wives of great military leaders of the past, present day military wives experience challenges that stretch their physical, emotional, and spiritual resources. While it is an honor to serve her soldier, airman, marine, or sailor as he defends the freedom of America, it is not without sacrifice. They receive no medals from their country but receive a reward greater than any medal. They reap the benefits of personal character and leadership development, adventure, relationships, and opportunities for service.

1 out of 5 stars Lacks substance   March 10, 2008

As a military wife whose husband is barely into a 15-month deployment in Iraq, I was excited to find this book online. The whole premise of it along with its excellent reviews made me eager to receive the book in the mail.

Once I got it and began reading, though, I was very disappointed. Just as each section of the book (three pages hardly makes a chapter) would begin to get to the point of a story, it would immediately cut off and include a Bible lesson that had very little to do with what I'd just read.

I had not expected the book to be religious. Since I'm a Christian, though, that wasn't necessarily the problem.

What I had expected and hoped for was a book sharing stories of military families. I wanted to read about the hardships and changes they'd experienced and how they came out better on the other side. Instead, what I got was a tiny, thin, simply written book with Bible lesson after Bible lesson temporarily interrupted by short stories that were all cut off before their point was revealed. The writing was terrible.

Such a shame. The title was so promising!

This book has a religious point of view about how to see the positive side of a lot of aspects of being a military spouse. It has Bible verses as well as prayers. If you are not a Christian you may not like it. I felt blessed by it, and it gave me a new outlook as an Army Wife. HOOAH!!

I have this book and have gone through a 22 month deployment as a Milspouse. I did not like this book. Too heavy, I suggest lighter reading for a military wife.

4 out of 5 stars It was a good book....   August 27, 2007

I thought the book was good averall but because I am not really in to reading religious books I found it a bit boring. The overall concept was good but I thought it would be more like a story without all the religious things in it. I would recommend it to those who like to read religious books.

I have this book. I bought it a while ago, I think at our PX. It's a great book and was very inspirational!
