Product Description And on your right, ladies and gentlemen, please observe The Conservative (Conservitus Americanus). This fascinating species in-habits vast territories across middle America, but rarely reveals itself in coastal urban areas. It is commonly believed to be uptight, humorless, and devoid of compassion, and is often characterized as racist, homophobic, and highly eco-unfriendly. Primary behaviors include unnecessary warmongering, tax cutting, and gun collecting. For decades, conservatives have proven to be hopelessly un-hip, and their mating habits dull. They are highly feared and often despised, for so few know and understand their true nature.Get ready to meet the conservative next door or in the office down the hall, the person you never thought in a million years was one of "them." Lively, witty, and thought-provoking, Why You're Wrong About the Right blows the lid off the stereotypes that have long been associated with the American Right, and reveals the face of today's conservatives: an intellectually and philosophically diverse new breed of young, outgoing, smart, friendly professionals who live and work among liberals everywhere! Themselves closet conservatives in Leftoid Land (aka Manhattan), S. E. Cupp and Brett Joshpe inject their own unique and colorful points of view into an honest dialogue on conservative ideas in American life and popular culture, and draw from interviews with a roster of renowned writers and political personalities, including Tony Stewart, Tucker Carlson, Brian C. Anderson, Laura Ingraham, Pat Toomey, David Horowitz, Ted Hayes, and many more. Undercover conservatives, reveal your true colors with pride! Liberals, hug a conservative today! And whichever side you find yourself on, you'll be engaged, surprised, and happily re-educated when you discover Why You're Wrong About the Right.

You are SO "right" August 14, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book does an outstanding job of nailing exactly why people think that Republicans are nuckle-dragging bible thumpers. We are not all that way, yes some are but this book educates people on why those ideas exist. This book is a MUST read by all politically minded people.
Great book by great people August 12, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I began reading this book because my co-host and I were going to interview the authors on our radio show. Of course I wanted to read the book before the interview so that I knew what questions to ask and I wanted to be able to know what I was talking about. I would have read the book regardless of enjoyment. But this book pulled me in right from the start, and soon I was reading it not for the interview, but because I just couldn't put it down. I read the entire book, relishing every word. I couldn't help but take notes because the points made were so relevant and I had to make sure I kept them with me. Not only did I love the book, when we interviewed S.E. and Brett I loved them as people. These young conservatives have such good heads on their shoulders and I wish them all the best in their future projects. People like Ms. Cupp and Mr. Joshpe are the future of America; thankfully.
This is one heck of a political tome June 12, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've read political books written by famous radio personalities and other political commentators, but this one tops them all. Besides being well written , it is an enjoyable and easy read. Brett and S.C. do a terrific job of analyzing the political positions of the left in relationship to those on the right, and just knocking the stuffing out of the left. The two young authors have a great future in front of themselves.
Who Knew? June 1, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Joshpe and Cupp do a great job breaking down the major stereotypes of conservatives and they do it in the most enjoyable way. They not only present facts (thoroughly!) but they also incorporate interviews and contributions from well-known athletes, musicians, writers and, of course, those involved in the political field. It's the most inventive and enjoyable take on the subject and couldn't put it down once I started reading. Definitely recommended!
Take down the straw men! May 31, 2008 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Progress of any kind or political persuasion can't come from a denial of reality, a viewpoint shared by NYTimes columnists as well as Ayn Rand. Yet, pursuits of this noble goal often degenerate into simplistic name-calling, and a concomitant spiral into the world of straw-men-bashing and knee-jerk labeling.
Given the frightful prevalence of these narrow-minded specters populating any attempt at intellectual discourse, I was thrilled with S.E. Cupp and Brett Joshpe's attempt to clear some of the air. This book is well thought, well composed, and well researched. One enjoys a humorously enjoyable blend of pop-culture and Edmund Burke, all the while taking aim at those on the left who selectively deny the reality of the beliefs and character of Republicans.
As an Obama supporter, I am nonetheless happy to have read this book because of the broadened perspective it affords my understanding of American politics. If you truly believe that a sober assessment of "the other side" from a quality spokesperson is valuable, Cupp and Joshpe are very capable guides.
